Happy mid-July, Philadelphia! The unofficial halfway point of summer is here, and the city is full of awesome things to do.

The Oval+ summertime pop-up kicks off another season on Saturday with an expanded footprint (all the way down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway), creative programming, sport courts and the return of the popular giant sandbox.

Hungry diners can score deals at more than 50 restaurants across two major food destinations this week. Ardmore Restaurant Week kicks off Monday and University City Dining Days begins Thursday, each offering two- and three-course lunch and dinner deals at select restaurants for as little as $10.

Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, and Philly attractions celebrate all week long. The Franklin Institute hosts community events, stargazing evenings and a day of demonstrations, plus the Mercer Museum, The African American Museum in Philadelphia and the Wagner Free Institute of Science host their own tributes.

Those in search of the avant-garde can check out three fringey festivals that kick off this week — We the People Improv Festival, the Philadelphia Podcast Festival and the New Hope Film Festival.

Also coming up: New locations for pop-up beer gardens Parks on Tap and Trails on Tap, Bluegrass and Blueberries in Peddler’s Village and John Leguizamo’s Latin History for Morons.
